Powered by Bustle and scheduled for Dec. 6 at (4:30 p.m. PST), the event will stream exclusively on Bustle’s YouTube channel. Hosted by Tina Fey, a friend and supporter of the organization, the event is meant to celebrate “the power and potential of girls to lead and to break down barriers as a new generation of female leaders,” per today’s announcement.
Confirmed to be joining Clinton and Fey are Red Table Talk’s Gloria and Emily Estefan, Tamron Hall, Universal Studio Group chairman Pearlena Igbokwe, actress and activist Jameela Jamil, gymnast Simone Biles, and others.
“Girls urgently need access to role models who embody confidence, leadership, and achievement. That’s what helps them imagine their own success,” said Girls Inc. president and CEO Dr. Stephanie J. Hull. “Girls Inc. is committed to increasing opportunities for girls and inspiring them to embrace new possibilities.”
Added Fey: “Girls Inc. helps young women around the country recognize their potential and gain access to opportunities, which has always been very important to me. I’m excited to join in this gathering as they share wisdom, skills and knowledge to empower our next generation of female leaders.”
Girls Inc. has previously hosted fall fundraising events in Los Angeles for nearly 25 years, and a sister event in New York every spring for the past 36 years. This year’s virtual event — online due to the COVID-19 pandemic — will support Girls Inc. as it expands its reach and extends work towards furthering the org’s mission of empowering young women.
