History is taking its trash-to-treasure success to the next level.
The top-rated network will air a crossover event in which a rare model 1957 Chevy will be picked, pawned and polished. The two-hour event will air on July 11 at 9 p.m.
STORY: How ‘Pawn Stars’ Launched a Hot New Genre and May Earn Academy Respect
It begins with American Pickers’ Mike and Frank on the road in Arizona, when Danielle reaches out about a client, Pawn Stars’ Rick Harrison. He’s in the market for a ’57 Chevy for the Old Man’s 70th birthday. The catch: he wants it right away so that he has time to restore it. (The typical time for a restoration of this size is six to nine months; Harrison wants it done in three.)
Mike and Frank are able to track down the car, but it needs a complete overhaul. Enter American Restoration‘s Rick Dale, who has to negotiate with Harrison. Whether they can make it look and drive like its new in time for the old man’s birthday party is the question.
“I won’t say whether or not the car was done in time,” says Pawn Stars and American Restoration executive producer Brent Montgomery, “but on his 70th was one of the few times we’ve ever seen the Old Man smile”
