Jennifer Lawrence doesn’t just play the self-sacrificing heroine of The Hunger Games: Catching Fire on the big screen, she echoed that same empathy toward one particular fan at Monday night’s premiere in London.
While greeting the hundreds of supporters who were lined up along the rainy red carpet in the British capital’s Odeon Leicester Square, Lawrence paused to pay attention to a crying female fan in a wheelchair. The actress then walked off the red carpet to speak with the fan face-to-face, behind the metal barriers. After offering a few consoling words, she signed an autograph and gave her a hug.

The candid moment can be added to a slew of other memorable on-camera incidents that have made Lawrence America’s sweetheart, including giving frank interviews about her fame, humorously photo-bombing Sarah Jessica Parker at the Met Gala, and tripping on her way to the stage at the Academy Awards.
The Catching Fire London premiere is part of the film’s European tour, which stops in Berlin, Madrid, Paris and Rome before the movie makes its U.S. debut with a red-carpet gala in L.A. on Nov. 18. The highly anticipated sequel to The Hunger Games hits U.S. theaters Nov. 22.
