The release date for The Hunger Games: Mockingjay – Part 1 in China has been pushed back again, to Feb. 8, 2015, to take advantage of the Chinese New Year holiday period and avoid clashing with other big Hollywood titles, according to Mtime, the country’s leading movie site.
There is a potential crush developing in the early part of 2015, with seven Hollywood tentpoles due to be screened in January, including The Hobbit: The Battle of the Five Armies on Jan. 23, Night at the Museum: Secret of the Tomb on Jan. 4, Annie on Jan. 9, Seventh Son on Jan. 18, Unbroken on Jan. 30 and Big Hero 6 on March 1.

Jennifer Lawrence, Josh Hutcherson and Liam Hemsworth star in the film that was to shown on more than 3,000 screens in China on Nov. 21, before the release date was pushed back.
The reason for the pushback was reportedly because it’s been such a big year for Hollywood in China. With a cume of $301 million in mainland China, Transformers: Age of Extinction has skewed the full-year box-office figures in Hollywood’s favor in 2014.
