Australian actor Liam Hemsworth joined the Lionsgate adaptation of The Hunger Games on April 4, taking on the role of Katniss' best friend/hunting partner Gale Hawthorne. Though Gale plays a small role in the first book of Collins' trilogy, his part may be expanded.

Bill Kelly (Enchanted) wrote the screenplay, which follows a man’s efforts to develop a scientific breakthrough that will turn back time after his wife dies.

Repped by WME and ROAR, Hemsworth will next be seen in The Hunger Games in March and The Expendables 2 in August. He last appeared in the 2010 romantic drama The Last Song.
