The Dave Matthews Band invited ticketholders to its weekend-long Caravan on Governors Island to attend the event Friday, as the Saturday and Sunday dates were postponed due to the state of emergency notice issued by New York Governor Andrew Cuomo.
’70s rockers STYX were due to play at the South Shore Music Circus in Cohasset, Mass. on Sunday but canceled the gig. STYX management wrote on the band’s website, “The safety of our fans is of utmost importance to us at all of our shows. Recent events have been unfortunate reminders that we must continue to prioritize the safety of all involved and closely monitor weather advisories from city and state governments in each city we play.”
Benatar canceled two gigs in Williamsburg, Va. for Saturday and Sunday.
Several festivals were affected by the storm as well: Brooklyn’s Out in the Streets and Afro-Punk festivals and the Rib Rock Festival in New York and New Jersey were canceled; while Maryland’s Silopanna Music Festival and New York City’s Charlie Parker Jazz Festival were both postponed, according to Rolling Stone.
Mary Chapin Carpenter recheduled a Virginia Beach date to Oct. 6, and as previously reported by THR, Kenny Chesney‘s Sunday night appearance at Foxboro’s Gillette Stadium in Massachusetts was bumped up to Friday, to the consternation of some fans.
