Ice Cube is attached to star in an untitled crime thriller from Patriots Day scribe Josh Zetumer.
Captivate’s Ben Smith and Jeffrey Weiner are producing the project, which centers on a clandestine high-tech version of the witness protection program which makes clients disappear by offering them seamless exits into new lives.
No director is on board at this stage.
Captivate is the company behind 2016’s Jason Bourne and 2012’s The Bourne Legacy thrillers, movies that are part of a key franchise at Universal. Among its projects in development is The Janson Directive with Dwayne Johnson attached to star. Janson is part of a collective universe of films being developed at the studio based on the best-selling novels of Robert Ludlum.
Ice Cube has become a fixture at Universal, thanks to his hit Ride Along action comedies. The actor last starred in New Line’s comedy Fist Fight, which was released earlier this year.
Ice Cube and Captivate are repped by WME. The actor is additionally repped by The Firm and Ziffren Brittenham.
