ICM has hired a new leader for its digital department, The Hollywood Reporter has learned. Former BuzzFeed executive Jonathan Perelman is joining to oversee digital strategy across the entire agency, while current digital head Keyvan Peymani will continue as a senior advisor consulting with start-ups.
“We want all our agents to have a digital proficiency in their practice, and Jonathan is going to provide strategic overlay over all of ICM Partners’ divisions,” ICM’s Chris Silbermann told THR.
Perelman was considered a rising star at BuzzFeed, where as general manager of video and then vp motion pictures he was instrumental in turning the company into one of the Internet’s biggest producers of video content (75 original videos a week and 1.5 billion monthly views). He previously served as Buzzfeed’s vp agency strategy and industry development and originated more than 20 partnerships with major global social platforms and portals. Before BuzzFeed, the onetime VideoInk Dealmaker of the Year and repeat Adweek Top 50 honoree spent six years at Google and is the founder of Lighthouse Group, an independent media and entertainment firm that advises start-ups. (Perelman himself is on the board of The 74 and Spot.IM, among other emerging companies.)
“Jonathan has successfully guided the growth of digital businesses for his entire career,” the ICM Partners board said in a joint statement. “His expertise, from advising start-ups to collaborating with content creators, will be a tremendous benefit to our clients. We are so pleased to welcome him to the agency.”
ICM also has promoted associate Bennett Sherman to digital agent. Sherman has been with the agency for five years.
