The awards show was held following weeks of controversy stemming from all white nominees being announced in the Oscars acting categories for the second year in a row.
Elba won twice, once for outstanding performance by a male actor in a supporting role and for best performance by an actor in a TV movie or miniseries; Aduba won for outstanding performance by a female actress in a comedy series, Latifah won for best performance by an actress in a TV movie or miniseries and for the second year in a row Davis won outstanding performance by an actress in a drama series.
In light of the controversy, it was revealed the Academy would take additional steps to reshape its membership. None of the winners Saturday night mentioned the controversy.
