LONDON – Imax has joined with Showcase Cinemas in the U.K. to put a giant screen in the Bluewater shopping center, one of the U.K.’s largest and most visited shopping malls on the outskirts of London.
The deal is a first for the National Amusements-owned Showcase circuit and signals a commitment to enhance the customer experience at this iconic out-of-town shopping complex.

Showcase operates cinemas at 20 U.K. locations, including three Cinema de Lux venues.
Showcase parent company National Amusements operates more than 850 screens globally and has been an Imax partner since 2001, with a total of five Imax cinemas in the U.S., Brazil and Argentina.
“We have been operating Imax cinemas for many years and have seen first-hand how IMAX drives incremental revenue for an entire cinema complex,” said Shari Redstone, president of National Amusements. “When it comes to presenting epic entertainment, the Imax format is world-class, and we are delighted to bring this unique cinematic experience to our patrons in the U.K.”
Imax EMEA president Andrew Cripps said: “We are pleased National Amusements is expanding its IMAX footprint to the U.K. — particularly to a site that ranks among the nation’s five highest-grossing multiplexes and is located in one of the busiest shopping centers in the U.K.”
