Ethan Miller/Getty ImagesTORONTO — Imax has its first Baltic-region theater after private equity investor Saturn Investments inked a deal to install a large-format screen in the historic Kosmos Cinema in Tallinn, the capital city of Estonia.
The agreement was unveiled by former Paramount Pictures International exec Andrew Cripps, who joined the giant screen exhibitor last year as president, Imax EMEA, to grow its global network.
“Today’s agreement is part of our broader expansion strategy in Europe to seed untapped markets and set the stage for further growth,” Cripps said in a statement Tuesday.
Tatyana Tolstaya, president of Saturn Investments, said the Imax screen would anchor the Kosmos Cinema as her group looked to “re-invigorate” the moviegoing experience in Estonia.
