TORONTO – Cinema Park has inked a deal with Imax to install another four giant screen theaters in its Russian circuit.
The Russian media group, owned by Profmedia, will open the latest theaters in new construction projects in regional markets, including Novokuznetz and Kemerovo.
The deal brings Cinema Park’s stable of Imax theaters to 26 in all.
“The expansion of our partnership with Imax is a direct result of the success we’ve experienced with our current Imax theaters, which represent some of the top-performing sites in our circuit,” said Sergei Kitin, general director of Cinema Park.
The latest theater sales in Russia follow Imax raising its profile in that emerging market, not least by hiring former Paramount exec Andrew Cripps as president, Imax EMEA, to grow its global network.
Cinema Park, the largest Russian exhibition chain, operates 27 cinemas in 15 cities.
