Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them Still - H 2015
Jaap Buitendijk/Warner Bros.Imax and Warner Bros. Pictures have extended their 13-year partnership with a deal to release up to 12 of the Hollywood studio’s upcoming tentpoles.
The latest agreement includes 2017’s Kong: Skull Island and Warner’s Godzilla sequel, Tomb Raider, Steven Spielberg’s Ready Player One and The Lego Batman Movie.
Also included in the Warner Bros. slate headed to Imax screens are Minecraft, the Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them sequel and previously announced Justice League, Wonder Woman and additional DC titles.
The deal also includes Christopher Nolan’s previously announced film Dunkirk, which will capture material and key sequences using Imax cameras.
Warner Bros. since 2003 has turned to Imax’s supersized screens to help release its tentpole pictures.
“We are very pleased to continue our longstanding partnership with Imax with these exceptional pictures and look forward to ensuring our audiences have the opportunity to see a range of diverse films on the largest and most immersive canvas possible,” Sue Kroll, president of worldwide marketing and distribution at Warner Bros. Pictures, said Wednesday in a statement.
Imax has similar multifilm deals with other Hollywood studios.
