LONDON — Argonon, the independent global production company with outposts in London, New York, Vancouver and Los Angeles, is setting up factual production banner BriteSpark Films.
The new company is founded by former Cineflix head of documentaries Nick Godwin who is the startup’s creative director.
A joint venture, BriteSpark Films will integrate Godwin’s international co-production experience into Argonon, within the wider group.
BriteSpark Films will be set up as a boutique production company with an international outlook.

The company will operate from Argonon’s London offices.
As head of documentaries at Cineflix, Godwin oversaw programs including the award-winning Nazi Hunters, feature length drama-doc Manson, Air Aces and the hit series Cold Blood for ID Discovery (US).
Prior to Cineflix, Godwin was the head of documentaries at Wag TV where he developed and oversaw productions for the BBC, Channel 4, FIVE, Discovery and National Geographic.
BriteSpark will be working closely with TCB Rights, the startup company of Paul Heaney — a former colleague of Godwin at Cineflix — to pre-sell commissions internationally and leverage rights.
Argonon CEO James Burstall said bringing Goodwin and a factual programming arm into the Argonon fold will help grow the company.

“We are delighted to welcome Nick [Godwin] into the fold where his experience of the U.K., USA and Canadian markets will be invaluable as we continue to develop our IP around the world,” Burstall said.
Godwin added: “My passion is creating compelling television, TV that gets people talking, with great characters and story-telling at its core; and this is what I hope to continue through BriteSpark Films. I look forward to delivering on our founding vision, by creating popular and high-end specialist factual.”
