CBS Films has produced a featurette about the making of its awards hopeful Inside Llewyn Davis, titled “Inside the Ensemble,” which The Hollywood Reporter is pleased to exclusively premiere.
In the clip, which runs about four minutes and can be viewed at the top of this post, the film’s producers-writers-directors Ethan Coen and Joel Coen discuss the “interesting casting challenge” of finding “a suitable actor and a credible musician” to play their film’s lead. Oscar Isaac eventually got the part.

A number of members of the large ensemble cast that supports Isaac also talk about the film as behind-the-scenes footage plays over their voices. Among them: Oscar nominee Carey Mulligan, John Goodman, Garrett Hedlund and Justin Timberlake.
In addition to several Academy Awards and Golden Globes, the film is expected to seriously contend for the best ensemble SAG Award. Other members of the cast who would share in such an honor include Max Casella, Adam Driver, Stark Sands and Alex Karpovsky. (Six years ago, the Coens’ No Country for Old Men claimed that prize en route to winning the best picture Oscar.)
