Jewelry designer Jennifer Meyer has entertainment in her blood — her dad is Universal president Ron Meyer, and hubby is Tobey Maguire, whose latest flick, The Great Gatsby, just hit theaters.
So it’s only fitting that she’s been playing the part of super supportive wife with some way-cool Instagram posts leading up to the film. From movie stills counting down the release to behind-the-scenes snaps from the New York premiere and images from Prada’s costume exhibit opening, Meyer’s has been giving her 21,000 followers much reason to double-tap. But on Friday, she posted the ultimate: a ridiculously cute mid-’90s photo of her husband next to his good buddy, Leonardo DiCaprio with the caption, “Who’s seeing The Great Gatsby tonight?? Xo #thegreatgatsby.”
The Gatsby co-stars have been friends since 1990, when they met auditioning for a TV spinoff of Parenthood. They went on to co-star in This Boys Life in 1993, and have been comrades ever since. We can only imagine the old photo albums lurking in the Meyer-Maguire crawl space.
The jewelry maven has been quite busy herself, with a line of diamond-encrusted, Tiffany & Co-inspired hair accessories launching in June, and a collaborative CFDA/ Vogue Fashion Fund capsule collection hitting J. Crew stores on May 22. And on June 3, she’ll hit the CFDA Awards, where’s she’s up for the Swarovski Award for Accessory Design (she was a runner-up for the organization’s prestigious Vogue Fashion Fund prize last year).
Even if you’re not celebrating Gatsby season as hard core as Jen, her Instagram account also entices with images of her modernly delicate diamond and gold pieces, aww-inducing doodles drawn by daughter Ruby and group shots of the L.A.-based designer and her way-stylish cohorts (Diane von Furstenberg, Derek Lam and stylist Jeanann Williams, among them).
Perfect for perusing while standing in line at Starbucks. Or for the times you want to remember the posters on your bedroom wall back in eighth grade.
