The image-sharing app will be curating a feed featuring photos and videos uploaded by celebs and industry insiders alike from the annual awards show and compiling them in the Explore section titled, “The Golden Globes: An Inside Look,” much like the curated shots from Halloween, Thanksgiving and last year’s MTV Video Music Awards. But unlike the elaborate activation that was set up with designer Jeremy Scott at the VMAs, Instagram won’t be doing anything similar on Sunday.
Instead, the Facebook-owned company has enlisted two famous fashion photographers to capture photos of the winners backstage.
Inez and Vinoodh — who have photographed everyone from Rihanna to President Obama and most recently worked with Lady Gaga on her guest-edited covers for V Magazine — will be behind the scenes to take portrait-style images of the Golden Globe champs and posting them to the awards show’s official Instagram account (@goldenglobes).
“We are thrilled to be working with Instagram for this type of mini studio portraiture,” Inez and Vinoodh tell The Hollywood Reporter. “The immediacy of Instagram as an outlet is very exciting to us and this specific Golden Globes shoot event will be the perfect opportunity to capture today’s icons of entertainment in our own timeless way.”
Not only will Insta fans be able to see all the stunning photos taken by the award-winning Dutch couple, but the curated Globes content will also include videos posted by ‘gram users — from those who will be taking part in setting up for the star-studded event to the various media outlets that will be posting from the red carpet.
Hyperlapse, an app launched by Instagram that creates time lapse videos, and Boomerang, the company’s newest app that produces animated video loops, will also be included in the roundup, too. (Another Chrissy Teigen “cry face” moment, Boomerang style, anyone?)
Among all the hashtag variations that will likely accompany Globes-related posts (e.g. #goldenglobes, #goldenglobes2016, #goldenglobeawards), the one you want to check out will be #iggoldenglobes for the crème de la crème. Or as Instagram puts it, it’s the “golden hashtag.”
