Set to release in the U.S. on Dec. 16, the international teaser trailer for the Margaret Thatcher biopic, The Iron Lady, has surfaced online.
In the brief one-minute clip, Thatcher’s advisers are seen scrutinizing her high voice and demanding that she relinquish her signature hat and pearls. Meryl Streep doesn’t appear until the end of the clip, but as usual, completely steals the scene.
Streep plays the title role in the Phyllida Lloyd directed film, which will take an in depth look at the first and only female Prime Minister of the United Kingdom. Lloyd and Streep previously worked together on 2008’s Mamma Mia.
The film also stars Jim Broadbent, Olivia Coleman and Richard E. Grant. It was produced by Pathe, Film 4 and the U.K. Film Council, while The Weinstein Co. nabbed the U.S. distribution rights in May.
