Less than a week ago, rumors began to circulate that Hedi Slimane was exiting Saint Laurent after a short three-year stint at the French fashion house. Given the game of designer musical chairs that major names in the industry have playing as of late, there was plenty of panic — but Saint Laurent quickly quashed the rumor, telling Pret-a-Reporter, “Hedi Slimane has not left Saint Laurent.”

Flash forward to Wednesday morning, and the rumor has risen back to the surface like an unsightly weed. This time, it comes from WWD, which speculates that Slimane is not only leaving the label, but that Belgian designer Anthony Vaccarello is up to take his place. In response to the article, the company maintained its distance, replying in a statement that “we do not comment on rumors.”
All this comes one day after Slimane revealed that he planned to preview “part 1” of his fall 2016 collection at the Hollywood Palladium prior to Paris Fashion Week in March, where he plans to show “part 2.” The move is yet another untraditional shakeup for the brand, which has undergone quite the transformation — from name change to relocation to a rebranding — since Slimane took the reins in 2012.
