This Is the End, the outrageous end-of-the-world comedy directed by Seth Rogen and Evan Goldberg, is returning to theaters beginning Friday, Sept. 6.

The film, starring Rogen, James Franco, Jonah Hill, Jay Baruchel, Danny McBride and Craig Robinson, will play in an estimated 2,000 theaters this weekend as Sony hopes to push the pic past the $100 million mark at the domestic box office.
This Is the End opened in theaters on June 12, 2013, on the Wednesday before Man of Steel’s weekend debut. The film, about a group of friends who are at a party when the apocalypse begins, earned $33 million in its five-day opening weekend. It has earned $96.8 million to date at the domestic box office.
The R-rated comedy, which marked the directorial debut of Goldberg and Rogen, was also written by the duo. The film, which sees the actors playing fictionalized versions of themselves, features a couple surprising celebrity cameos and is based on a short film created by Rogen and Baruchel in 2007 titled Jay and Seth vs. The Apocalypse.
“This Is the End really struck a chord with comedy moviegoers this summer,” said Sony Pictures president of worldwide distribution Rory Bruer. “For everyone who didn’t get a chance to see it — or saw it and loved it and wants to see it again on the big screen — we are thrilled to have it back in theaters.”
