The holidays arrived early on Wednesday night in Culver City, as The BookBindery was adorned with a string of festive lights, decorative holly plants and wooden Christmas trees (with wrapped gifts tucked underneath, of course) to celebrate Toms founder Blake Mycoskie‘s new holiday collection with Target.
Ever since he founded Toms shoes in 2006 and continuing as he has grown his business to include sunglasses and coffee, the chief shoe giver has wanted to expand his reach of the one-for-one giving model (for every item purchased, a donation is made) and Target allowed him to do so. “It’s an amazing opportunity to help so many more people during the holiday season and really important, helping people in the United States and Canada,” Mycoskie told Pret-a-Reporter, adding that his latest collab will provide 11 million meals, blankets and shoes to those in need during the holidays.
Jennifer Garner, who attended the evening’s festivities, looks forward to paying it forward this year through the Toms x Target collection. “There’s so many different places for giving back. We need to look at giving back in a global sense and people in our own backyard and this is a great way to give back,” said the Men, Women & Children actress, referring to the charitable collection. “You buy something at Target that you actually want and Toms takes care of the giving for you, so you can feel good about it.”
Attendee Jessica Alba shared that sentiment: “I just love how tangible the giving is. You get a bag and you know it’s going to provide a certain number of warm meals to someone in need or you get a poncho and you know it’s going to provide a blanket.”
During the soiree, guests were invited to shop the limited-edition line, including women’s cozy knit sweaters ($32) and comfy ponchos ($28), men’s casual shirts ($30) and Toms ceramic cups ($15). Soon you, too, can shop for the cause when the range drops at all Target stores in the U.S. and Canada and Target.com starting Nov. 16. Happy holidays.
