Iggy Azalea - P 2014
AP Images/Invision2014 was a really good year for Iggy Azalea, who churned out hit after hit, shook her booty with J.Lo and even simultaneously held the No. 1 and 2 spots on the Billboard Hot 100 chart with “Fancy” and Ariana Grande‘s “Problem,” which the 24-year-old is featured on. But she didn’t just stop at taking over the music industry. The Wilhelmina-repped model, alongside Lakers guard boyfriend Nick Young, recently starred in Forever 21’s holiday campaign.
Before Azalea ends her year on a high note, we caught up with the Australian rapper to see what she has planned for the holidays, if she’ll be making a New Year’s resolution, and which Forever 21 piece is her must-have of the season.
What are your plans for the holidays?
I¹m going to spend the holidays in my new house with Nick and his family. We’ve had our Christmas tree up since the week before Thanksgiving so to say I’m excited would be an understatement.
You had an incredible 2014. Do you have a New Year’s resolution for 2015? If so, what is it?
I actually don’t. I think my resolution has always been to keep progressing, so given that this year was my best one yet, I don’t see why I’d change up now. I’ve been really busy planning my tour later this year so I haven’t really had time to think up a resolution. I guess it would be to just keep making music for the fans to listen to and make my live show everything I remember my favorite concerts to be when I was growing up.
You and Nick have great chemistry, especially when making Forever 21’s “Questions From a Hat” video. What was it like starring in a campaign together?
It was awesome. We normally don’t get to go to work together, so that day was a pleasant exception. Our dog, Jelli, was running around the studio causing all types of havoc, so there wasn’t much of the usual dull in-between time you get with photo shoots.
The Forever 21 holiday collection has some great pieces. Which one is your favorite?
That’s tough — I love a lot of pieces in the collection. I’d have to go with the sequin green dress I wore when we shot the campaign. It manages to toe the line of being Christmas-y but also sleek enough for a swanky dinner party.
