Morgan Spurlock has some thoughts about what’s next for One Direction following Zayn Malik‘s exit from the group last month. While mentor Simon Cowell is looking forward to the group’s next album, the This Is Us director has another idea of what’s next for the foursome.
He spoke to TMZ over the weekend, where he shared his thoughts about the group. (Keep in mind, we’re not sure how serious he is about some of what he said.)
“I think they’ll stay together for a little while. I think they’ll stay together for a little bit longer, and then I think at some point Harry [Styles] will probably leave,” he said in the video. “I think that Niall [Horan] and Louis [Tomlinson] and [Liam Payne], I think that the three of those guys are going to become like the new Bel Biv Devoe.”
For those not in the know, Bel Biv Devoe was a group formed by three former members of New Edition, Ricky Bell, Michael Bivins, and Ronnie DeVoe.
Spurlock had previously shared that he was pretty upset when he heard about Malik’s decision to leave 1D. But he supports Malik’s wanting to pursue another path away from the band.
“I think all those guys together are fantastic. They had something really special together, and you can’t fault Zayn for wanting to leave. People have to make their own decisions in life.”
