There are few things better than L.A. in the summertime, when the beach beckons loudly and sunshine truly feels eternal. (OK, so maybe L.A. in the summer isn’t much different than L.A. in the winter. But never mind.) And Italian blogging superstar Chiara Ferragni, who has helmed personal style tome The Blonde Salad since 2009 and has amassed a global audience along the way (2.4 million Instagram followers, anyone?) agrees — leaving behind her native Italy for the next couple of months in favor of a trial period in L.A.
“I’m looking for a place now!” the bubbly blonde told Pret-a-Reporter while hosting a packed Fashion for Breakfast event at Cecconi’s, the latest in a string of innovative style networking events held at the West Hollywood power dining staple and produced in conjunction with Soho House’s Under 27 membership team. “I think it’s a beautiful city and the only place where you can work hard but at the same time relax.”
At her power breakfast, the leggy 27-year-old — who is a published author and has a namesake shoe line with Steve Madden — nibbled on poached eggs, avocado toast and quinoa-infused oatmeal from a $15 prix fixe menu, all while mingling with the stars of L.A.’s finally bubbling-up apparel industry – Nasty Gal talent relations manager Val Pina and jewelry designer Lillian Shalom included.
So we had to ask —what exactly is Ferragni doing in town this season?
“Taking commercial classes,” she said. “Not acting classes. But I have a strong accent and I’ve never really done anything like that professionally. We’ll see what happens.”
As a line of girls dressed in their blogging best snaked around the full restaurant to get a photo op with the new West Coast resident (one fan even traveled from Mexico just to attend the breakfast and meet Ferragni), we learned that Cecconi’s is planning to host a Fashion for Breakfast event on the second and fourth Thursday of each month. Next up? On Thursday, June 26, Taye Hansberry from Stuff She Likes will be helping stylish Angelenos start their day.
Ferragni, meanwhile, will likely be busy checking off items from her L.A. to-do list: having a beautiful garden, walking the dog, running and, of course, hiking.
“It’s the best of everything I want.”
Cecconi’s Fashion for Breakfast, June 26. 9:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. at Cecconi’s. Email reservation requests to email@example.com. Complimentary valet.
