Mystery fans will once again convene from all over Europe in the shadow of the Italian Alps at the 25th annual Courmayeur Noir Festival, curated by Giorgio Gosetti and Marina Fabbri.
Dedicated to noir, horror and fantasy films and literature, the festival will see seven films competing for the Black Lion award in the competition lineup. The films competing this year are: A Most Violent Year by J.C. Chandor, My Big Night by Alex de la Iglesia, The Ardennes by Robin Pront, Brand New-U by Simon Pummell, Traffickers by Sean Roberts, Into the Forest by Patricia Rozema and Spy Time by Javier Ruiz Caldera. The prize is chosen via an audience vote.
Other films in the lineup include the Jack Black starrer Goosebumps and Cold in July, starring Michael C. Hall and Sam Shepard.
The premiere episode of How to Get Away With Murder, starring Viola Davis, which premieres in Italy in January on Fox, will screen during the fest. Television tributes will also pay homage to the first episodes of Twin Peaks and The X-Files.
American author Joe R. Lansdale is set to receive the Raymond Chandler Award.
The 25th edition of the festival takes place Dec. 8-Dec. 13.
