Ivana Trump is apparently the reason that her ex-husband, Donald Trump, uses Twitter.
In an interview with Jim Axelrod on CBS Sunday Morning, the former fashion model reveals that she was the one who suggested he tweet. “I said, ‘I think you should tweet. It’s a new way, a new technology. And if you want to get your words across rightly, without telling The New York Times, which is going to twist every single word of yours, this is how you get your message out,'” said Ivana.
She also defends him against critics who suggest he stay away from the social media platform, telling Axelrod, “Well, it’s a tweeting president. This is his new way, how to put the message across. And he’s right.”

In just the last few days, the president has taken to Twitter to criticize San Juan mayor Carmen Yulin Cruz and to call out the NFL over players kneeling during the national anthem — all of which sparked outrage and disgust among stars and athletes alike.
Ivana married Donald in 1977 before the two called it quits in 1992. Despite their separation, Ivana says they still talk about once a week.
During the interview, she says that Donald offered her the position of the American ambassador to the Czech Republic. “He said, ‘Ivana, if you want it, I give it to you,'” recalls the 68-year-old, whose new book, Raising Trump, will be released Oct. 10.
However, she says she turned down the position because she likes her freedom.
“I like to do what I want to do, go wherever I want to go with whomever I want to go. And I can afford my lifestyle,” she explains. “OK, why would I go and say bye-bye to Miami in the winter, bye-bye to Saint-Tropez in the summer, and bye-bye to spring and fall in New York? I have a perfect life.”
Ivana’s CBS Sunday Morning interview will air Oct. 8 at 9 a.m. PT.
