iVillage, the largest content-driven online community for women, is expanding their brand with a new celebrity-centered blog, which will debut with the help of actress and mother Denise Richards.
CelebVillage launched on Monday, Oct. 10 with its very first blog, in which Richards shares details of life with newly adopted daughter Eloise, as well as older daughters Sam and Lola. The actress will host the site for the entire month of October, posting a new entry once each week.
“As a member of the iVillage community, I’m thrilled and honored to share my life experiences with millions of women, who just like me face life’s daily challenges of trying to do it all,” Richards said in a statement. “I know that all women have a story to share, and I’m looking forward to connecting and hearing from community members on the life lessons they’ve learned along the way.”
Grammy Award winning singer Alanis Morissette will take the reigns in November, writing about nine-month-old son Ever, and the delicate balance between motherhood and career. For the month of December, newly engaged mom of two and current Dancing With the Stars hopeful, Ricki Lake, will tell readers how she found true love the second time around.
“We know that our readers love hearing from celebrities about what they’re going through in their real life, especially when it comes to parenting and being a mom,” Angela Matusik, iVillage’s Chief Content Executive, told The Hollywood Reporter. “Recently, we had Jessica Alba writing for us — right before she gave birth a few weeks ago — which came about pretty spontaneously. It was such a big success, we thought, ‘we need to do this more often.'”
“Celebrities and people in the entertainment industry want to be able to connect with an audience directly, and we have the audience to do that,” she added.
iVillage looks forward to continuing the program into 2012, and while additional guest bloggers have yet to be confirmed, Matusik said that they are currently “zeroing in on” more stars to join the project. Richards, Morissette and Lake are currently signed on to contribute four blogs each, which they will write entirely on their own.
