Jack White has a new gig: composing the score for Disney’s The Lone Ranger, starring Johnny Depp and Armie Hammer.
The studio recruited the Grammy winner — who sometimes resembles Depp as Edward Scissorhands, with his unkept black hair and porcelain complexion — to produce and perform the soundtrack. Gore Verbinski is directing the movie, which will feature Depp as Tonto and Hammer as John Reid.

The Lone Ranger, adapted from the classic TV series, is slated to premiere May 31, 2013.
White, formerly of the White Stripes, composed the theme song for 2008’s Quantum of Solace.
His debut solo album, Blunderbuss, arrived Tuesday via Third Man Records and he’ll kick off a U.S. tour on May 15 in Nashville, Tenn. Last month, he revealed that he will only reform the White Stripes if the band were to hit bankruptcy.
“I would probably say absolutely not. Absolutely no chance. I couldn’t see any reason to ever do that,” he said. “I’m not the kind of person that would retire from baseball and come out of retirement the next year.”
