Jaden Smith keeps a list of the most inspiring people in his life. It’s short, pretty star-studded and goes like this: “My mom, my dad and Al Gore.”
The 20-year-old artist, actor, activist and rapper has not been shy about sharing his admiration for the 70-year-old politician-turned-environmentalist, telling everyone from Elle to WWD how high Gore charts next to his famous parents, Will Smith and Jada Pinkett Smith, because of his decades-long commitment to protecting the earth. He has even called Gore “the coolest person in the world.”
Next month, Smith will share a stage with his idol as part of the program for Summit LA18, set to run Nov. 2-5 in downtown Los Angeles. The organization — a multi-disciplinary global community of entrepreneurs, academics, athletes, artists, authors, chefs, engineers, philanthropists, spiritual leaders, scientists and others including Richard Branson, Jeff Bezos, Shonda Rhimes, Malcolm Gladwell, Brene Brown, Marie Kondo, Kobe Bryant, Jessica Alba and Brian Grazer — hosts conference weekends in such places as Utah, Tulum and even Kenya.
