James Franco Creates College Class About His Career

Oscar nominated actor James Franco goes casual for a portrait sitting during the 2011 Sundance Film Fest, taking in the annual event before preparing to transform himself yet again for two upcoming roles. The 32-year-old will play real-life hit man Robert "Mr. Softee" Pronge in The Iceman before bringing to the screen the true story of Richard "Night Stalker" Ramirez, a serial killer that terrorized L.A. in the mid-'80s, in Night Stalker.

You can now study James Franco for college credit.

The Oscar-nominated actor has teamed up with Columbia College Hollywood — based in Tarzana, Calif. — to offer a 12-student editing class where they will create a half-hour documentary using footage from his film career.

The course, called “Master Class: Editing James Franco … With James Franco,” will be taught by Franco’s editor Tyler Danna, according to Movieline.

The actor, who will co-host the Academy Awards on Feb. 27 with Anne Hathaway, will talk to students through Skype and attend weekly sessions, depending on his schedule.

Franco is a Ph.D student in English at Yale. He received a MFA from Columbia last year. Franco next stars in Your Highness and Rise of the Apes.
