There have been some creative Oscar campaign slogans in recent years, spanning the spectrum from a fur-clad Melissa Leo‘s poolside plea to “Consider” her for The Fighter to the more demure “Find Your Voice” for The King’s Speech. But it looks like the effort of distributor A24 Films, a sister company of The Hollywood Reporter under parent Guggenheim Partners, to win a long-shot best supporting actor nomination for James Franco for his performance in the March release Spring Breakers — in which he plays a gangsta rapper with cornrows and a teeth-grill in the film — will take the cake.

THR has learned that the new distributor has prepared campaign materials, which will be released imminently, that pay homage to Franco’s character, Alien, and his extended boastful rant in the film about his cool property, or “shit,” by using the slogan “CONSIDER THIS SH*T” as he holds an Oscar statuette in each of hand.
An A24 spokesperson tells THR, “James Franco has created a character so indelible it deserves recognition. We are excited to be able to support it with a campaign and know the impact of Alien will last far past this awards season.”
With regard to the unconventional language that is being employed for the campaign, the spokesperson explained, “We plan to create an awards campaign that is thematically consistent with the film itself.”
The unconventional Franco PR blitz will continue tonight as he receives a roast on Comedy Central, starting at 10 pm EST.
