Darren Aronofsky’s Noah, starring Russell Crowe in the titular role, dropped to third place after a solid bow last weekend. The biblical epic is now pushing $8 million in Japan.
Noam Murro’s 300: Rise of an Empire, opened in fifth place for Warner Bros., taking a less than spectacular $857,000 (?87.3 million) from 533 screens. The original film, directed by Zach Snyder, racked up more than $15 million (?1.56 billion) in Japan in 2007.
X-Men: Days of Future Past fell to ninth in its fifth week of release. Japan also won’t be giving much of a boost to 3 Days to Kill, where it opened in eighth spot, taking $404,000 (?41.2 million) from 184 screens. The Kevin Costner-starring spy action thriller is released locally by Showgate as Last Mission.
