Before introducing Celine Dion’s performance at the 2015 American Music Awards, Jared Leto made a speech honoring the victims of the attacks at the Bataclan on Nov. 13.
But after speaking of Paris, he turned to a more political subject, alluding to the plight of Syrian refugees.
“Many of us here are the sons and daughters of immigrants,” Leto said to the crowd, name-checking Steve Jobs and Barack Obama as two such figures.
