More details about Jason Collins’ compelling personal story may be headed to print.
The NBA vet sparked a media storm by revealing he is gay in the May 6 issue of Sports Illustrated, and now his former fiancee, Carolyn Moos, says she is penning a book about her experiences with him.
She shared the news on her personal website:
“Carolyn will be writing a book as she reflects on her recent life events about her former fiance. She welcomes submitted questions from the public about what they would like to hear more on given topics that were discuss at the surface level in the interviews. Send your questions to firstname.lastname@example.org and Carolyn will review all of them as she begins to write.”
No further details were available on the project.
Moos and and Collins met at Stanford, where she played basketball. She went on to play in the WNBA for the Phoenix Mercury, Miami Sol and Minnesota Lynx. The couple dated for seven years before becoming engaged.
In his Sports Illustrated story, Collins wrote, “When I was younger I dated women. I even got engaged. I thought I had to live a certain way. I thought I needed to marry a woman and raise kids with her. I kept telling myself the sky was red, but I always knew it was blue.”
He came out to Moos several days before the story was released, and she has said she had no idea he was gay.
“It’s very emotional for me as a woman to have invested [eight] years in my dream to have a husband, soul mate and best friend in him. So this is all hard to understand,” Moos told TMZ last week.
Moos runs the fitness and health company FITT4LIFE.
