Jay Z is going to make holiday gift-giving mighty easy this season. Luxe retail store Barneys New York announced today that it is partnering with the hip-hop mogul for a limited multi-clothing-label line called “A New York Holiday.” Jay Z, of course, is a Brooklyn native.
The line features pieces from elite fashion houses as varied as Lanvin (a tailored jacket), Balenciaga (a black leather backpack), Balmain (a square-print scarf), Proenza Schouler (a black leather duffel), Rick Owens (a hoodie) and more — all of whom worked with Jay Z on originals.

The section of the Barneys flagships in New York, Beverly Hills, San Francisco, Boston and Chicago (as well as the website) where the clothes will be displayed is called BNY SCC Gallery (Barneys New York and Shawn Corey Carter).
“With this project, Barneys New York and I were able to take the slickness, energy and innovation of New York City and translate that into quality, timeless pieces,” Jay Z told WWD. “Everything that encompasses ‘New York Holiday’– the items chosen, the amazing designers that participated, the windows, the design of the BNY SCC Gallery — represents a perfect example of a unique and groundbreaking collaboration that I hope demonstrates how inspiring New York has been to me.”

This certainly is not Jay Z’s first foray into fashion. He (along with co-founder Damon Dash) created streetwear brand Rocawear in 1999 and it’s still going strong today. Through his song, he’s known to wax poetic about rocking upscale brands often. Just months ago his “Magna Carta, Holy Grail” album cut “Tom Ford” earned him some love from the lauded designer.
“A New York Holiday” goes on sale Nov. 20 and wraps Jan. 3.
