Held Oct. 17 in Los Angeles, Elle‘s Women in Hollywood event brought together a powerhouse of actresses, including Jennifer Aniston, Barbra Streisand, Elizabeth Olsen, Viola Davis and Naomi Watts.
Prior to the annual gathering, the magazine sat some of the women down for a short film, in which they talk about their careers, their inspirations and their favorite movies.

“I just never liked reality, I thought it sucked,” explains Streisand, “But I loved going to the movies when I was a teenager in Brooklyn. The Loew’s Kings, that’s where I first saw Marlon Brando. And it was the only time I ever stayed through a double feature to see something again. It was Marlon Brando in Guys and Dolls.
The classic musical also had an effect on Elizabeth Olsen. The up-and-comer says Vivian Blaine‘s role in the film is one of her most coveted parts. “I would have died to be Adelaide,” she says. “I’m an awful singer, but I sing.”
And then she does.

The complete short, running just over 10 minutes, offers a surprisingly candid look at some rather iconic women. If you don’t have the time to watch the whole thing, at least fast-forward to the 8-minute mark and enjoy the sight of Streisand pulling off her wig.
