Jason Bateman and Jennifer Aniston are reteaming for Significant Other, a comedy pitch picked up by STX Entertainment.
Bateman is attached to direct and produce the project and would star in it with Aniston, who is also attached to executive produce. Andrea Seigel, who penned the Keira Knightley-Chloe Grace Moretz movie Laggies, will write the pitch.
Significant Other centers on an up-and-coming, type-A businesswoman (Aniston) who is in the final stages of being recruited for a major CEO position, but before she gets the job her company wants to meet and vet her spouse, an unpolished stay-at-home husband (Bateman).
Bateman is producing the project via his Aggregate Films shingle, while Aniston is working via her Echo Films banner. Aggregate’s James Garavente will shepherd while Sheroum Kim, vp development, is overseeing the project for STX.
Bateman and Aniston starred together in the 2010 sperm-donor comedy The Switch, directed by Josh Gordon and Will Speck. The two actors are now prepping to reunite for Gordon and Speck’s newest comedy, Office Christmas Party, which will shoot this spring.
Bateman made his directorial debut with Bad Words, in which he also starred, and most recently directed The Family Fang, in which he starred with Nicole Kidman.
Bateman and Aniston are repped by CAA, Lighthouse Management and Hansen Jacobson. Seigel is with UTA and Kaplan/Perrone Entertainment.
