Jennifer Lopez and Alex Rodriguez sat down for a virtual chat with Joe Biden ahead of the general election.
The couple took part in a conversation about the importance of voting with the Democratic presidential nominee, as seen in a video uploaded to YouTube on Friday.
“We’re thrilled and we’re excited to vote,” Rodriguez said. “I think our voice has never been more important. We want to come together as a team to defeat COVID and to rebuild this U.S. economy that needs us all so much.”
Lopez added, “For me, it’s [about] unifying the nation again, you know, getting rid of this hate. Thinking about my kids walking around in a world where it’s OK to be racist or prejudiced because our administration says it’s OK — that, to me, is really sad because it’s not the country that I believe that I grew up in.”
In the video segment, which also featured Biden’s wife, Jill, they spoke about the need to contain the COVID-19 outbreak, which has disproportionately affected the Latino population, and the power that Latino voices have.
“My kind of hope and quest for the Latino community is that they start understanding their power,” J. Lo said. “Their vote counts.”
