She may already be an icon to her fans but Jennifer Lopez will soon have one for her mantle. The superstar performer has been selected to receive the People’s Icon award at the upcoming E! People’s Choice Awards.
She’s already a PCA winner (for favorite TV crime drama actress for NBC’s Shades of Blue) and nominee many times over but on Nov. 15 from Santa Monica’s Barker Hangar she’ll take home one of the top honors. Per today’s announcement, Lopez is being singled out for her “iconic performances both on stage and on screen,” including the Super Bowl halftime show and in the hit film Hustlers.
“Jennifer Lopez has an unmatched global appeal and for more than two decades, has given us some of the most iconic, unforgettable performances of all time,” said Jen Neal, general manager, E! News, live events and lifestyle digital, who added that they’re honoring Lopez for paving the way for artists around the world and helping boost Latinx representation in music, film, TV and fashion.
The E! People’s Choice Awards are produced by Den of Thieves with executive producers Jesse Ignjatovic, Evan Prager and Barb Bialkowski. Nominations are expected to be announced shortly.
Lopez, a face of Coach, Versace, Guess and DSW, next stars on the big screen opposite Owen Wilson and Maluma in Marry Me. She’ll join the latter as part of Billboard’s Latin Week Oct. 20-23.
