Producer, artist and longtime music executive Jermaine Dupri has signed with APA for film and TV.
The new representation comes as the Grammy winner and CEO of So So Def Recordings is launching his own movie production banner, So So Def Films.
Dupri, having sold over 400 million records, has collaborated with Usher, Mariah Carey, Janet Jackson, Jay-Z, Kanye West, Bono, Snoop Dogg and Diddy.
The multi-hyphenate hip hop artist, producer, songwriter and DJ is collaborating with AMS Pictures on Rebuilding Black Wall Street, about the Tulsa massacre in 1921.
Beyond music, he’s also developing an unscripted series in the music space with director Melissa Haizlip.
Other recent credits include appearing and serving as music supervisor on WE TV’s Growing Up Hip Hop Atlanta, and executive producing five seasons of Lifetime’s The Rap Game.
Dupri also starred in BET’s Music Moguls docuseries alongside Snoop Dogg, Birdman and Damon Dash and executive produced Lifetime’s unscripted series The Rap Game, along with Queen Latifah,
His So So Def Recordings banner launched the careers of artists like Kris Kross, Xscape, Da Brat, Jagged Edge, Anthony Hamilton and Bow Wow, and as a hip-hop DJ to held a five-year residency at Wynn Las Vegas.
Dupri is also repped by Melinda Bell at StraightUp Entertainment Group.
