Standup veteran Colin Quinn will return to the stage with Colin Quinn The New York Story, a comedy being directed in its off-Broadway premiere by Jerry Seinfeld.
The new show is based on Quinn’s recently published The Coloring Book: A Comedian Solves Race Relations in America. Thumbing his nose at the political correctness that obliges us to tiptoe around the subjects of race and ethnicity, the former SNL regular takes a close look at his hometown, from the Dutch settlers to the hipsters of contemporary Williamsburg.

The New York Story begins performances July 9 at the Cherry Lane Theatre, officially opening July 23. The limited engagement is scheduled through Aug. 16.
Seinfeld directed Quinn’s 2010 show Long Story Short, a whirlwind tour of the world’s ancient civilizations that springboarded from the Cherry Lane to a hit run on Broadway and an HBO special. He returned to off-Broadway in 2013 with Unconstitutional, in which he tackled the nation’s seminal political document.
“I’m doing this show because I’ve already covered the world with Long Story Short, the country with Unconstitutional and now the city,” said Quinn of the new production. “I’m working my way down to the most fascinating subject: me!”
