The season two premiere of MTV’s Jersey Shore Family Vacation was full of strife, but for reasons viewers may have never expected. On Thursday’s episode of the reality series revival, star Jenni “JWoww” Farley revealed that her son, Greyson, is in therapy for delayed speech.
The TV personality — who also shares daughter Meilani, 4, with husband Roger Mathews — said her 2-year-old son has a very limited vocabulary for his age. Farley took to Instagram on Friday morning to thank fans for their support after the episode aired, and open up further about the struggle to want to have “perfect children” and Greyson’s road ahead.
“To everyone that tuned into @jerseyshore last night and messaged, commented etc about @greysonmathews with similar stories or just showing love I cant thank you enough,” she began her lengthy post. “As a mother, I will go to the moon and back for my kids… no question. I live my life differently because of them. To find out Greyson is ‘behind’ or ‘delayed’ crushed me… but only for a moment… that moment came from wanting to have ‘perfect children’ and ‘how could this happen to me?’ But Grey is PERFECT and it CAN happen to anyone.. I saw that last night when the messages came in by the hundreds.”
Farley said that she decided to share Greyson’s condition in an effort to help others. “I want to help anyone going through what I’m going through… I’m sure people need support the way I’ve needed it,” she continued, adding that Greyson “is still in therapy 3x a week… he’s doing a lot better.”

Instead of the drunken nights that typically drive the drama of Jersey Shore, last night’s conflict was centered on Farley’s co-stars’ dismissive reaction to her emotional revelation. To help lift her spirits, Farley’s spouse, Mathews, asked the Jersey Shore cast to send in 30-second clips for a surprise Mother’s Day video. With the exception of Mike “The Situation” Sorrentino, every castmember ignored Mathews’ request.
Farley expressed disappointment in her castmates, particularly in her good friend, Nicole “Snooki” Polizzi. “I’m going through a very hard time with Greyson, so it actually broke my heart,” she tearfully told Mathews.
Later, in a confessional, Farley said, “I do expect my friends to support me when I’m going through this time. Just like I support them with all their fucking shit… [Nicole] doesn’t understand how bad that hurt me. She really solidified the fact that she’s not as good a friend to me as I am to her.”
Jersey Shore Family Vacation is airing its second season on MTV Thursdays at 8 p.m. The reality phenomenon returned in April after a five-year break. Read Farley’s full post on Friday below.
