Jimmy Kimmel has been outspoken about his opposition to the GOP’s latest Obamacare repeal attempt, the Graham-Cassidy health care bill. So after the Senate said it wouldn’t move forward with a vote on the measure, Kimmel celebrated on Tuesday night’s Jimmy Kimmel Live.
“On behalf of my family, especially my son Billy, I want to sincerely thank those who called your representatives, made your voices heard and got involved to help smother this cruel piece of legislation,” he told the cheering audience.
“I bet the walls of the Oval Office are filled with dozens of tiny little fist holes today,” Kimmel joked, as he segued into talking about President Donald Trump taking to Twitter to criticize John McCain for saying he wouldn’t vote for the bill.
The president shared a number of clips on his personal account of McCain speaking against Obamacare in the past. The video was accompanied by the caption, “A few of the many clips of John McCain talking about Repealing & Replacing O’Care. My oh my has he changed-complete turn from years of talk!”

Kimmel responded, “‘My oh my?’ He’s so mad he turned into Scarlett O’Hara.”
The host then took on Trump’s accusations that McCain is a flip-flopper and stated that McCain is still in favor of repealing and replacing Obamacare, just not with “a flaming bag of dog crap.”
Kimmel went on the discuss Trump’s own hypocrisy. “The idea that Donald Trump would criticize anyone for changing his position is very rich. It’s definitely richer than he is,” he said. “Donald Trump has more flip-flops than a Jimmy Buffett concert.”
In response to the clips of McCain the president shared on social media, the Jimmy Kimmel Live team took it upon themselves to compile a number of clips in which Trump is seen saying things he would never admit to today. Some of these revelations include Trump admitting that he believes Hillary Clinton is a good woman, that he’s a Democrat, that he won’t have time to play golf once he becomes president and that he “would never lie.”
The monologue took a serious turn when Kimmel went back to the issue at hand. “While I’m relieved that we dodged this particular bullet health care-wise, I want to make one more point,” he began. “We need a system that provides quality, affordable health care to every American. Obamacare is a start, but it’s obviously far from perfect.” He then pleaded for Congress to hold a number of hearings and to invite experts to find out what is currently working and not working. Kimmel argued that the findings should help Congress create a bill that works for everyone.
He concluded that the issue isn’t about sides: “To all the senators and representatives who stopped this bill, thank you for being reasonable and know that we’re paying attention now and you’ll be hearing from us again.”
