Never one to shy away from criticizing others, Joan Rivers had some harsh words to say about Lena Dunham‘s weight and style in an interview with Howard Stern this week.
While Rivers thinks the Girls actress is “terrific,” the E! Fashion Police host asked, “How can she wear dresses above the knee?”

Stern defended Dunham, saying: “I think the thing we love about her is she doesn’t give a shit.” He added, “Do you watch Girls? Do you watch when she’s naked on there? She did a whole episode in a bikini; it was the funniest f–kin thing I’ve ever seen.”
“But that’s wrong,” Rivers responded, disagreeing with the idea that Dunham should appear nude on her show. “You’re sending a message out to people saying it’s OK, stay fat, get diabetes, everybody die. Lose your fingers.”

The outspoken comedian also called Dunham a hypocrite for being on the cover of Vogue‘s February issue since the actress claims she doesn’t care about her appearance — only to grace the cover of the fashion bible. “She was on Vogue‘s cover looking gorgeous, you didn’t even know it was her,” said Rivers.
She concluded: “If you look that way you look, Lena, and that’s fine and you’re funny, don’t say it’s OK that other girls can look like this. Try to look better.”
