Hairstylist Ashley Streicher explains that the original plan was to leave Froggatt’s hair loose, until clouds began to loom on Los Angeles’ skyline over the weekend. That’s when Streicher decided to play it safe — but not boring.
“I didn’t want her to look ordinary or like everyone else,” says Streicher, who discussed the look with Froggatt’s stylist, Brad Goreski, who dressed the nominee in a strapless Marchesa number with shoulder-dusting gems. “I thought a modern braid would be good for her; she’s never done anything young and fresh … plus, she had beautiful earrings. I thought it was a perfect look for her.”
And for those looking to recreating the look at home, Streicher recommends tearing the braid apart “a little bit” and making it loose, then pinning it back into place. But the secret to keeping the plait in place lies in Unite’s Expanda Dust volumizing powder, which Streicher sprinkled over the braid to keep it in place. Says Streicher, “It holds the braid together, but also gives it a lot of great texture.”
