Joe and Anthony Russo, the directing team behind Captain America: The Winter Soldier, have signed a three-year, first-look deal with Sony Pictures.
The deal begins in April.
In a statement, production co-presidents Michael De Luca and Hannah Minghella said, “Joe and Anthony Russo have demonstrated their ability to bring excitement, audacity and phenomenal commercial success to a variety of genres and endeavors, and we are proud to add them to the family. Their original voices and fearless execution are a tremendous addition to our studio.”
The duo reinvented themselves as action and genre moviemakers after years of working in television comedy with such shows as Community, Happy Endings and Arrested Development.
Sony hopes to put that versatility to good use as it resets itself after executive changes.
More to come.
