Next up on Yahoo’s slate of hires for its new digital channels: Joe Zee, who will join the media company as editor-in-chief and executive creative officer at Yahoo Fashion after spending seven years at Elle magazine.
Yahoo confirmed the news Monday morning after weeks of speculation. In his new role, Zee will be charged with leading the vision, creative direction and development of Yahoo Fashion’s new “digital magazine,” with new video series, original programming and special events. Zee also has been named editor-at-large of Yahoo Beauty, which will be headed up by Bobbi Brown.
“I have always embraced technology and innovation in everything I do — from making a magazine, to executive producing and hosting my television shows, to writing my books,” Zee said in a statement. “What’s so exciting about Yahoo is that I can inspire and connect with hundreds of millions more women, and bring them the magic of the fashion world in ways they haven’t yet experienced.”
Zee’s current roles include serving as executive producer and host of Sundance TV’s Revealing and All on the Line With Joe Zee. He also designs and sells his clothing collection, Styled By Joe Zee, on QVC.
Zee begins his new role in May and will divide his time between New York and L.A.
