John Boyega was apparently sitting in traffic when the first official trailer for Star Wars: The Force Awakens hit screens during Monday night football. But the actor, who plays Finn in the newest installment of the franchise, promised in a Tweet that he’d film his reaction for fans when he sat down to watch it, adding “it deserves a BIG screen.”
Late Monday night, Boyega posted a video to his Instagram account of his reaction to the trailer — which clearly didn’t disappoint the actor. “THE TRAILER IS JUST EEEEPPPPPPPIIIIICCCCCCC! Star Wars is back!” Boyega captioned the video in which he flings himself over the back of his couch in excitement, “gaaaaaad laaaaard! You know what! Let me just relax because this kind God oooo! Lmao! Seriously congrats to everyone ! December 18th!”
On Monday, Boyega’s co-star Daisy Ridley, also posted a video of her emotional reaction to watching the trailer on Instagram, captioning, “Totally emotional seeing it for the first time, and so, so, so incredibly awed to be part of this incredible legacy.”
Boyega and Ridley’s stars have risen tremendously due to The Force Awakens, both actors being virtually unknown in the U.S. prior to joining the film. They join original castmembers Harrison Ford, Carrie Fisher and Mark Hamill along with other newcomers Oscar Isaac, Lupita Nyong’o and Adam Driver.
The film arrives in theaters Dec. 18.
