Microsoft announced Tuesday that it has named Jordan Levin executive vp at Xbox Entertainment Studios. Levin will report to president Nancy Tellem and will lead the creative team responsible for developing scripted and unscripted original content for the game console and other devices.
The Hollywood Reporter confirmed last week reports that Levin was in talks for the position.
Levin was formerly CEO of WB Network, where he oversaw 1990s hits such as Dawson’s Creek, Buffy the Vampire Slayer and Gilmore Girls.
He also co-founded and served as CEO of Generate, a digital media company acquired by Alloy Digital in 2012. He serves as chairman of the NATPE executive committee.

Tellem, who first met Levin while they worked together at Warner Bros. in 1994, has been running the Santa Monica studio since 2012.
Xbox Studios ordered its first original series in December. The docuseries from Simon Chinn and Jonathan Chinn will explore the digital revolution. The studio is also reportedly working on a series inspired by the life of rapper Nas.
