LONDON – British police have arrested two men on suspicion of planning a bizarre and violent attack on the singer Joss Stone after neighbors reported suspicious activity near her South of England home.
The singer remains unharmed, and it is not clear whether she was even at her home at the time of the arrest.
But Devon and Cornwall police said they had arrested two men on Tuesday morning after they were found equipped with swords, rope and a body bag as well as detailed maps and aerial photographs of the singer’s rural home.
The British-born soul singer grew up in Devon, where her family still live.
“Police attended an address in [the village of] Cullompton yesterday morning [Tuesday] after alert residents notified officers about a suspicious-looking vehicle,” officers said in a statement.
“Officers attended the area at around 10 am and subsequently arrested the occupants of a red Fiat Punto. Major crime detectives are continuing to investigate.”
Reps for the star said she was “aware of the arrests” and that police were “keeping her updated with developments.”
